TGR990 is a great addition to EADS TETRA terminal portfolio. The TGR990's advanced and versatile features have been developed to meet the demanding requirements of professional radio users in public safety and emergency services. With its gateway and repeater functionality it can extend your reach in extreme conditions and environments. The TGR990 can operate in three modes: as a normal mobile radio, as a gateway between Trunked Mode Operation (TMO) and Direct Mode Operation (DMO) or as a DMO repeater. The current mode is clearly visible on the radio display.
TMO-DMO Gateway
The TGR990 can be used as a TMO-DMO Gateway between users operating in trunked mode with TETRA coverage and those operating in direct mode. Gateway extends the effective operational range of communication from TETRA network (TMO) to direct mode (DMO) and vice versa. This functionality can enhance communication in buildings and at the edges of the TETRA network. For example, with help of a DMO Gateway, smoke divers operating in DMO inside a building can communicate with colleagues using TMO outside.
DMO Repeater
In DMO, radios communicate directly with each other, outside the TETRA network. When used as a DMO Repeater, the TGR990 can expand the operational range and keep users in contact with each other where the network is unavailable. This might be the case in remote locations beyond TMO coverage, or inside buildings, tunnels and basements, where walls may reduce the DMO range.
Flexible installation options
The TGR990 combines a radio transceiver and a control unit into a compact device, fitting into a vehicle's DIN slot. It adapts easily to different types of vehicle with different installation requirements, thanks to the availability of numerous mounting kits. These include a remote installation kit that enables the radio and control unit to be mounted apart from each other. When the radio needs to be operated from two separate places, a parallel second control unit can be connected to the radio via a connection box. An additional desktop console with integrated loudspeaker is also available for office use. Various interfaces enable the TGR990 to connect with data devices and a PC or other data terminal.
